Description

I had some spare pieces of lace I used for another pair of earrings and came up with these =] Enjoy!

Instructions

  1. Small step 1 1282623766

What you'll need: + Scissors + mod podge (I use mod podge matte) + jewelry adhesive (super glue works too) + clay roses (sorry this how-to doesn't include how I make these!) + paint brush + heavy lace + needle (not in photo) + earring posts (not in photo) + some kind of surface that glue can come off of(I use trace paper, baking sheets are good too) + tweezers (optional)

  2. Small step 2 1282623896

First, examine your pieces of lace. Snip two pieces that you'd like to use for earrings. I like using identical pieces, but you can totally be creative with this and choose pieces of your liking identical or not =]

  3. Small step 3 1282624051

Next, use your paint brush to apply mod podge (I use mod podge because it acts a sealant and finish to help protect the lace) evenly to the lace on one side, then leave to dry. Make sure you lift the lace and place it in a spot that has no glue while it dries. This helps to prevent from sticking to your trace paper/baking sheets. Flip the lace over, and repeat. Tweezers may be helpful here to maneuver the lace around and prevent getting glue on your fingers! =]

  4. Small step 4 1282624535

Once your lace has dried, take a needle and pierce a hole where you would like the posts to be.

  5. Small step 5 1282624552

Next take your earrings posts and stick them through the hole in the lace. (I do this because having the lace on one side of the post and the rose on the other allows the rose to have a flat surface to be glued on to. If you prefer, the rose can be glued on top of the lace as well.)

  6. Small step 6 1282624724

Apply jewelry/super glue to the part of the lace that is touching the back of the post. Hold for a few seconds to dry.

  7. Small step 7 1282624890

Take your roses of choosing and apply glue to the post and attach. Hold for a few seconds to dry. (If you're using clay roses I recommend sanding the back until you get a flat surface.)

  8. Small step 8 1282625035

Viola! Allow to dry and you're done =] I hope this was helpful. Have fun and experiment!
