Description

There are lots of knotted necklaces around in shops that look so complicated to DIY, but this version is easy and quick to make!

Instructions

  1. Small 106909 2f2015 01 19 180117 chain%2bknot%2bnecklace%2b 282 29

Cut a 50cm length of cord (if using a material thicker than 5mm, you may need to allow more) and create a loop by bringing the right side down and up over itself.

  2. Small 106909 2f2015 01 19 180138 chain%2bknot%2bnecklace%2b 283 29

Still working with the right end of the cord, bring it back down behind the loop you made in step 1. It should look like a pretzel!

  3. Small 106909 2f2015 01 19 180157 chain%2bknot%2bnecklace%2b 285 29

Pull up the same section of cord up through the middle of the pretzel shape just enough to form another loop.

  4. Small 106909 2f2015 01 19 180241 chain%2bknot%2bnecklace%2b 287 29

Tighten the knot, leaving the loop you created in step 3. Repeat steps 2 & 3, bringing the long end of cord behind the loop and pulling it up to form a new loop another 5 or 6 times.

  5. Small 106909 2f2015 01 19 181551 chain%2bknot%2bnecklace%2b 2812 29

Form the knotting into a curve, trim off the ends and attach a fold over end to each side. Cut the chain into 2x 15cm pieces and use jump rings to fasten the chain to the fold over ends and clasp.
