Knit Knockoff 1 Lace Dress

Intro to Knockoffs
Knockoff is an infamous term that is thrown around the fashion design industry. It is often synonymous of cheap and fake. However, it has recently become one of my favorite terms.

Knocking off a garment is when you take a garment that is already made ,like this cream colored lace dress that I bought from H&M, study it and make a very close replica (the second picture). This, in my opinion, is one of the easiest ways to make a garment that you want to fits* your body. The fun part is after making your pattern for the garment, you can create the same garment in all the colors you want! :)

*Knockoffs made from KNITS (not woven fabrics) are best for the beginner because you do not need to get the fit exactly right for the garment to look well-constructed.
