Fold the petals whenever you have some free time, a few at a time. Its a drag to fold them all at once in one sitting.
Make Kanzashi petals out of red paper. Or recycle any paper which is plain on one side, like I did. I painted the plain side red, cut it into 3 cm wide strips and cut squares out of it to make the petals.
Petals are all ready.
Cut out a piece of red cardstock or a thick piece of paper which is roughly heart shaped. Nothing has to be exact. Just cut out something much larger than you think you will need. Again I painted a white paper. Cut out an eye hole.
Start gluing the petals...
...around the eyehole.
The first round is done.
Do the second round, but not completely. Leave one or two petals out at the top.
Do the third round. see we are getting a kind-of sort-of heart shape..
Glue petals at the bottom to get a pointy end.
If you think its not big enough add another round. I didn't.
when you are satisfied with your heart cut out the extra cardstock ...
...but leave some to punch holes on both sides of the heart.
Strap in a string or an elastic and you are ready to surprise/ scare your boyfriend :D
