• 

  Step 1

  Make Kanzashi petals out of red paper.

  Or recycle any paper which is plain on one side, like I did. I painted the plain side red, cut it into 3 cm wide strips and cut squares out of it to make the petals.

  Step 2

  Petals are all ready.

  Step 3

  Cut out a piece of red cardstock or a thick piece of paper which is roughly heart shaped. Nothing has to be exact. Just cut out something much larger than you think you will need.

  Again I painted a white paper.

  Cut out an eye hole.

  Step 4

  Start gluing the petals...

  Step 5

  ...around the eyehole.

• 

  Step 6

  The first round is done.

• 

  Step 7

  Do the second round, but not completely. Leave one or two petals out at the top.

• 

  Step 8

  Do the third round. see we are getting a kind-of sort-of heart shape..

• 

  Step 9

  Glue petals at the bottom to get a pointy end.

• 

  Step 10

  If you think its not big enough add another round. I didn't.

• 

  Step 11

  when you are satisfied with your heart cut out the extra cardstock ...

• 

  Step 12

  ...but leave some to punch holes on both sides of the heart.

• 

  Step 13

  Strap in a string or an elastic and you are ready to surprise/ scare your boyfriend :D
