Sweeter and with more tomato flavor than Texas-style sauce, Kansas City’s version is also less spicy and much thicker. Despite not being Texan, it’s still delicious. Makes about 3 cups

You will need

2 cup Ketchup ¼ White Onion , grated 2 Garlic cloves, finely chopped ½ cup Brown Sugar 3/10 cup Distilled White Vinegar 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce 2 tbsp Yellow Mustard 1 tbsp Molasses ½ tsp Freshly Ground Black Pepper ¼ tsp Ground Cayenne Pepper

Instructions

1. Combine all ingredients in a medium heavy-bottomed pot. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 30 minutes, until flavors have melded. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
