3D Jester Figure
definately fun to make :) use the big side of your imagination coz the figure can literally be anything from a jester, cinderella to a rock star or a fairy or cowboy :P Wish I had more images to include in the steps part but my pics have gone walkabouts :( will upload when they come back.,

  • Step 1

do a few sketches of what you want your figure to look like. work out your proportions and its pose so you can refer back to the drawings if need be :)

  • Step 2

Start by shaping the wire hangers into the rough figure of a body.. be sure to get the pose correct! you will have to cut and bend the hangers so mind your hands :o
You should need 1 hanger for the round head and shoulders, 1 hanger cut in half for each arm, 1 hanger for the torso and the last hanger for the legs.

    Step 3

Next start scrunching up newspaper and filling in the body and head, using the tape to keep everything in place! wrap the paper around to form the legs and arms, dont worry about hands and feets just yet :P

    Step 4

Use the Copper Wire to roughly make the shape of the hands and feet, you may have to attach bits to get the right sized hands which is easier done before you start shaping :)

    Step 5

then roll little tubes of newspaper and fit them into each finger/toe, holding all together with tape. Fold other bits of paper to make the palm and back of the hand etc. Then you can move or position the hand what ever way you wish.

  • Step 6

Keep building up the body and such until it seems pretty proportionate in shape and size., then fold bits of paper to define the body a bit more such as the calves, forearms etc.

  • Step 7

When the body is beginning to take on a stable form and its not quite so squishy you can start paper-macheing :P however if your having trouble with the squishyness like i did, keep packing the newspaper tighter it will come together eventually!

  • Step 8

Hopefully, you dont have the troubles i did as i had to perform surgery on my dude twice to re-adjust things i went wrong on :(

  • Step 9

To make the clothes for your figure you will have to fold the newspaper into the shape of your clothing such as a dress or jacket and jeans.. try to get some creases in there like your figure is really wearing them! :)

  • Step 10

You should use aliminium foil to build up facial features ;)

  • Step 11

Ok we'r gonna do the paper-mache bit the lazy way :P get yourself a little jar, such as an old jam jar or whatever and add 3 parts PVA glue and 1 (rather small) part water!

  • Step 12

Tear 2cm width shreads of newspaper in whatever particular colours you wish. I really wasnt to particular in this area i just tore up any shape make and side of bits :P and use your old paintbrush to paint sections of your guy with the mixture and slap on the newspaper and brush over again with the mix.. you can give as many layers as you wish!

    Step 13

Do this all over your figure, there shouldn't be any bits of tape or foil visable.. and leave to dry! Or if your like me get the hair dryer to him for awhile :P and finato :)
