I bought my silverware at goodwill =) And... I made two silverware carriers out of the material leftover from my cutoff shorts (see my other projects)!

  • How to make a napkin / napkin ring. Jeans Reusable Silverware Carrier - Step 1
    Step 1

Cut out a square about 11" x 11". That's about all the fabric I had, but if you want to make it 12" that's better to ensure that the silverware fits into the pouch.

    Step 2

Save the leftover fabric for the pockets!

    Step 3

Get out your ironing board, this is the least fun step, but it makes things so much easier.

  • How to make a napkin / napkin ring. Jeans Reusable Silverware Carrier - Step 4
    Step 4

Iron each side in about 1/2 inch.

  • Step 5

Cut off the corners. Repeat on the other square.

    Step 6

Pin the two together, right side out.

    Step 7

Starting at the top side, sew around all the edges. Before you get to the last side, pin a ribbon between the two sides. I made mine about 3" in length. You need this to roll the whole thing up and tie it together, so make sure you get it in the middle.

    Step 8

Now roll up the fabric how it will be with silverware in it (loosely). Mark where the ribbon meets the other side of the fabric (about 1/2 inch apart) with a pin.

    Step 9

Cut out your pockets out of the left over fabric. Make it about 2.5 inches wide and whatever length you want.

    Step 10

Pin the pockets on where you want them.

    Step 11

Make sure that your silverware doesn't stick out. Test it before you sew! I had this problem the first time I made mine. Especially test chopsticks because they're longer. Sew the pockets on, put the silverware in, and.... you've got a silverware carrier that didn't cost $20 like on www.reusablebags.com!
