These family favourites have a distinctive heart-shaped window to give a peek at the jammy centre. On the knit rows, work all the increases into the front and then the back of the stitch, and on the purl rows work into the back then the front of the stitch, except where the pattern tells you to cast on using the needle method. This is done by working as if you are knitting a stitch, but instead of pulling the stitch off the left needle, you leave the new stitch on the left needle. I used 4 mm (US #6) needles and a DK yarn.

To make up You may need to pull the rings into shape to make them good circles, then block them. Put all three layers together with the right sides on the outside. Using a length of biscuit-colour yarn, sew a circle just inside the edge with stem stitch, sewing through all three layers, creating a slightly raised edge around the biscuit. Using the same colour yarn, oversew the edges of the heart-shaped hole. There is no need to go through all three layers here, you can just sew it down to the red filling.
