There’s no time like the present to make some wearable conversation hearts to express how you feel about this holiday ;) In my case, apathy is on full blast - but you can also go down the romantic route.

Description

There’s no time like the present to make some wearable conversation hearts to express how you feel about this holiday ;) In my case, apathy is on full blast - but you can also go down the romantic route.

Instructions

  1. Small 107154 2f2015 01 30 214936 material

Here are the materials you will need. Not pictured are the stuffing and the white cotton thread (oops!)

  2. Small 107154 2f2015 01 30 215129 1

First we need to cut out the felt hearts. Draw a heart out on paper and cut it out to use as a template - my hearts were about 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches (6 x 6 cm), but feel free to scale up or down as you see fit. Then cut out 2 hearts and a little rectangle of the same coloured felt. The little rectangular strip will be used to cover up the pin back after you sew that on.

  3. Small 107154 2f2015 01 30 215136 2

Attach the pin-back to one of the felt pieces by sewing it on with thin white thread.

  4. Small 107154 2f2015 01 30 215144 3

Next, sew on the little rectangular piece of felt over the pin-back to make it look neat, and also become more durable.

  5. Small 107154 2f2015 01 30 215152 4

Next, use your embroidery thread to write a message on your other piece of felt (not the one that the pin-back was attached to). Be as creative as you like in this stage ;)

  6. Small 107154 2f2015 01 30 215201 5

Use your white thread and stitch the heart with the pinback to the heart with the embroidered message. Make sure to leave some part of the edge unstitched for the next step…

Fill the heart as full as you want with some fibrefill. If you don’t have that on hand, I find remnants of yarn and scraps of cloth from other projects work pretty well too.

Sew the open edge closed and you’re done!
