  • Heart Cookie
  • Round Cookie Cutter
  • Rolling Pin
  • Muffin Tin
  • Clear Gloss Varnish Spray
  • Gold Acrylic Paint

Steps (10 steps, 30 minutes)

  1. 1

When choosing clay colors, pick 2 that are in the same color family but different shades. Also use white and black clay. This adds to the marbling effect.

Cut off 1 or 2 small chunks of clay for each of the colors that you have but only one chunk of black clay.

  2. 2

Roll each chunk of clay into a pencil shape that is approximately 7 to 8 inches long.

  3. 3

Gather up all of the ropes and gently squeeze them together. Roll all of the clay into one big pencil shape.

  4. 4

    Bring the two ends together.

  5. 5

    Twist the clay rope.

  6. 6

Roll the clay into a ball.

  7. 7

Using a rolling pin, roll the ball out into a circle that is 1/4 inch thick.

  8. 8

Use a cookie cutter to cut out a heart or circle shape.

  9. 9

Gently put the clay shape into a cup in a muffin tin. Lightly press the clay down to make it slightly bowl shaped. Smooth around the edges with your finger.

Bake your dish at 275 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes. Cool.

  10. 10

Paint the edge with a metallic gold acrylic paint.

When the paint has dried, spray a light coat of clear varnish on both sides of the dish. Let the varnish dry and voilá! You have a little jewelry dish!
