Instructions

  1. Small 2014 04 10 135000 img 2281

Start by stripping the paint off of all the drawers of their previous color / varnish.

Next give them a light sanding. I was originally going to make sure to get all the paint off but decided that I kind of like the scrappy paint chips so I left them. Really it's up to you and how you want your end design to look.

Stain the face of your drawers with a dark color stain by dipping your cotton rag into the stain and going with the grain wipe it on. Allow the stain to sit for a few minutes before wiping off the excess with a clean cotton rag. I used 'walnut' colored wood stain by Min-Wax.

Once your stain is set and dry stencil your letters and numbers on each drawer using a sponge brush and your black craft paint.

Finish it off by painting the bulk of your piece in a soft neutral gray or tan. I used sandstone gray by Better Home and Gardens and made it into Chalk paint. You can do it with any latex paint by using the following ratio: 3 parts paint + 1 part plaster (& water) Mix your plaster with water until yogurt consistency and smooth before mixing it immediately with the latex paint. Stir until smooth and paint.

Once dry piece your furniture back together and your done!
