Description

With Halloween coming up, I'm getting antsy for some indoor decoration. This is an easy and fast project (not including the cutting) that doesn't look too cheap if you do it neatly.

Instructions

  1. Small 003

Cut out several types of bats out of black construction paper. This is my small sized bat.

  2. Small 004

This is my big sized bat. See the different shape than the one above? You can do what I do and just trace the shape out on some computer paper pressed gently against your screen.

  3. Small 005

This is my medium sized bat. I actually had just folded some paper in half, drew half a bat on one side, then cut it out on the fold so both sides would be symmetrical. Then I used that folded shape to trace it out as many times as I could on some black construction paper.

  4. Small 006

I also added some stars for even more variety. When you are done tracing out shapes onto black construction paper (I just used a plain pencil, you'll be able to see it) cut all of the shapes out. This is what took me the longest.

  5. For the "Bat Mobile", simply tape ribbon of longer and longer lengths to the bats. Make sure to keep the bats in order from shortest ribbon to longest ribbon. Also make sure to use clear tape.

  6. Get wire about 8-10 inches long and wrap it into one big circle, either tape the ends together or bend them into hooks and hook the ends together. AFTER putting the bats on though.

  7. My ribbon actually has holes in it so I used the holes to hang the bats. You might have to tie the ribbon to the wire. If you do, make sure to keep the ribbon getting longer and longer throughout the mobile.

  8. Small 002

Divide the bats into three seperate piles (while hanging on the mobile) and tie more ribbon to equal parts of the wire IN BETWEEN the bats. Use this ribbon to hang the Bat Mobile up.

  9. Small 001

If you have a lamp with the shade far enough from the bulb, you can tape extra bats on the inside of the shade. Just make sure the bulb is either far enough away from the paper OR doesn't get to hot in order to avoid a fire!
