Description

this is also called an umbrella skirt, its almost like a circle skirt, just a bit different don't pay too much attention to the unfinished hem, this was a trial run skirt made from a old scarf, because I want to make a lenga out of silk later(like tomorrow when I get paied and has money for the fabric) This took me a long time because it was a process of trial and error I would love to see your versions

Instructions

  1. Small img 02171

get your fabric, lay it flat on the floor or table then fold it into a half

  2. Small img 0219 1 1252369862

fold the material again (4 fold) now cut diagonal like making a triangle (look at the picture) just like that now measure the distance from your hips to your feet make a semi circle line across the bottom(use a fabric pen)

  3. Small img 02231

and if you are using elastic, measure your hips and take two inches away from that(so it can stretch)

  4. Small img 0224 1 1252370112

now sew the panels together, so it looks like this FOR THE ZIP CLOSURE now make the waist band, just fold an inch of fabric over and sew across(this is if you are using a zip) sew the end panels together leaving room for the zip to be stiched in

  5. Small img 0227 1 1252370199

FOR ELASTIC!!!! ok for the elastic, make a waistband(fold over about two inches and sew it across string the elsatic through, and then sew the loose ends of the elastic together.) Now on the sewing machine sew the two end peices of the fabric together
