Description

Buy this untreated wood product so you can design it to fit perfectly into your house!

Instructions

  1. Small 107995 2f2015 03 15 171052 stained and painted bench ikea before

After you've built your Ikea NORNAS bench, place a drop cloth underneath the piece of furniture

  2. Small 107995 2f2015 03 15 171059 stained and painted bench ikea step 1

Take your wood staining product (this is Minwax Walnut stain) and squeeze it into the surface you're staining. Then, take your cheese cloth and work it into the wood in even strokes.

  3. Small 107995 2f2015 03 15 171107 stained and painted bench ikea step 2

This is the top of the bench after 1 coat of stain. If you prefer a darker wash, do one more coat. You can also cover the rest of the bench with stain for a uniform look, but if you want the same look I've created, go on to paint out the bottom half with your paint of choice; I used Americana Decor Chalky Paint to get a matte finish; it's also very thick paint, so usually only requires 1 coat.
