Not that I think back (and have done some internet searches), this project would be much easier if I had used freezer paper stencils, but I did not know about them then. Instead, I used paper cutouts, scotch tape a pen (I suggest using a washable marker, but didn't have one at the time) and fabric paint. I hand-painted the entire thing using a paintbrush. I used 3 layers of fabric paint on the letters and splattered the paint on using a slightly larger brush.
