Description

Could there be a cuter way to celebrate a new baby than with these candy-coloured pops in the shape of a soothing dummy? Made of delicious lemon sponge with cream cheese frosting, they are sure to please children and adults alike. Finish each with different coloured bases and decorate with stars. These dummies were decorated with tiny stars using a mini star cutter, but there are many other shapes available for you to use – try little hearts or flowers. makes 12

Instructions

  1. For the cake pops, use lemon sponge bases with cream cheese frosting. Dip all the teat top parts of the pops in the white chocolate and leave to dry.

  2. To create the lip guards, use a 6cm (23?8in) cutter to cut out four circles of each colour of flower paste. Using a 1cm (3?8in) cutter, cut a circle in the centre of each to allow for them to thread up under the cake pop.

  3. Using the star plunger cutter, cut some stars in bright pink flower paste and attach to the lip guards using edible glue and a paintbrush.

  4. Thread the lip guard up to sit beneath the teat and attach with royal icing.

  5. Using the 6cm (23?8in) cutter, cut twelve circles from white flower paste. Cut out each centre with a 4cm (1½in) cutter. Set aside to dry.

When dry, using royal icing and a parchment piping bag with a no. 1.5 nozzle, pipe a little icing at two points, top and bottom of the rear of the circle, and then press on to the cake pop stick to attach. Baby Presentation We used this fantastic pink metal bucket as a great way to present these cake pop dummies. Just fill the base with something heavy to hold your cake pops in place firmly (we used some sugar paste) and then scatter coloured sugar on the top surface. Position your cake pops for maximum effect.
