An easy how-to tutorial for prepping a pineapple.
I have a super basic tutorial for you guys that astounds me that more people don’t know how to do. I’m honestly flabbergasted by the idea that people don’t know how to prep pineapples and lose all that tasty tongue torturing flesh whenever the shear away all the best bits. I know that for most of you this will be redundant, but in case you need a reminder here it is.
Pro tip: You can tell when your pineapple has reached the desired “ripeness” when you can tug at the leaves on top and they come free easily, but not too easily. You still want a little bit of resistance. If they come away too easily then you might have let your pineapple sit for too long and you might open it up to find it’s mostly water and mush.

You Will Need

Step 1Start off by topping and tailing your pineapple. Don’t be that guy that thinks he can hold on to the top and machete the edges off like he’s in a B-rated flick called ‘Action Kitchen’. Nobody wants to drive you to the hospital.

Step 2Then just gently shear away the edges, trying not to take off too much of the flesh, but also not leaving a million spikes on.

Step 3Then just core your pineapple by whatever means you choose. You could buy a pineapple corer if you have infinite drawer space and nihilistic tendencies, but I prefer just to cut mine out.

Step 4
Then just chop your pineapple up into whatever shape you like. I’m a fan of the standard “sqaureish” shape that most pineapples adapt whenever you’re cutting them. Then just store and eat whenever you feel like have a raw mouth.
