Description

This is my first felted flower attempt and I am happy with my outcome. It is so much fun and so easy that I thought everyone might want to try it.

Instructions

  1. Small step 1 fold wool roving 1250265904

Step 1 - gather 5 bunches of pink wool roving for your outer flower petals, measuring 6" long. You will also want to gather 4 more bunches of pink wool roving slightly smaller than 6", this is for your smaller petals. Lay on a flat surface and fold in half, should look like this when your done.

  2. Small step 2 needle punch petal 1250266312

Step 2 - Place wool on felting mat and begin needle felting your flower petal.

  3. Small step 3 shape your petal 1250266418

Step 3 - Contiue shaping your petal, I worked from the top down and it seemed to be the best way.

  4. Small step 4 complete each petal by needle punching 1250266498

Step 4 - turn over petal and continue needle felting on the other side. Something that I learned when forming my petals was that you want to keep the ends of your petals whispy as this will make it easier when combining your petals at the end.

  5. Small step 5 place all petals together 1250266624

Step 5 - After you have shaped and needle felted all of your petals you are now ready to put it together. I placed the larger petals on the outside with the smaller petals on the inside towards the center. Place your flower on top of your felting mat and begin needle felting these together until the fibers are all woven together. I fliped this over and needle felted from the back as well.

  6. Small step 6 make a ball of green wool roving for center 1250266719

Step 6 - gather a small bunch of green wool roving for the center of your flower and shape into a ball.

  7. Small step 7 shap ball by using single felting needle 1250266774

Step 7 - Place on mat and begin needle felting. I used a single needle as it made it easier to shape my ball.

  8. Small step 8 place in center of flower bud 1250266835

Step 8 - Place ball in the center of your flower.

  9. Small step 9 begin needle felting to flower 1250266884

Step 9 - Begin needle felting the center onto your flower. I also flipped my flower over and needle felted from the back.

  10. Small step 10 attach pin back with glue 1250266987

Step 10 - Place your pin on the back of your flower with glue or sew it on, however its always better to sew it on, as it will never fall off that way. What I used was a 1" steel pin back that was sewn onto a piece of pink felt, and I glued this on to the back of my flower. However for this size pin you could use a larger pin back, just make sure you always reinforce it.

  11. Small step 11 needle felt onto back of rose bud 1250268081

Step 11 - I did this step because I used that pin back with pink felt. To reinforce my pin back I needle felted this all together.

  12. Small step 12 completed project with decorative card 1250268525

Step 12 - Congratulations your finished and ready to wear this very classy rose broche. My pin is pictured with a tag that I made out of cardstock for selling purposes. If you are gift giving, a background with some card stock adds a little extra charm to your project. Thanks for looking we hope you enjoy and please feel free to leave any feedback or if you have any questions. Thanks and happy crafting.
