this was inspired by Balenciaga Resort 2013 collection had a brown jacket. i couldn't find brown so i made it in black. you will need some previous dart manipulation skills to create this just basic dart manipulation knowlege. if you don't know you can read a pattern cutting book or look it up on youtube. i learned how to do it from youtube.

Instructions

  1. Small dscf1059

First I shaped the sleeve pattern the sleeve used in the original was an enormous short flared sleeve. So i took a sleeve pattern cut the sleeve up at four even points. (if you don't have a sleeve pattern you can create one from a deconstructed sleeve. the overall length was 30 cm so I divided it by 4 to get an even proportional measurement. So I opened up the sleeve pattern 23 cm each panel because I wanted the sleeve to look big and exaggerated like the original.

  2. Small dscf1068

i cutthe sleeve pattern out in fabric this was a practic piece so i made it in calico

  3. Small dscf1062

i have a half front bodice pattern you cand create this by drawing around a LOOSE vest onto pattern paper. then once i drew the pattern piece i used the slash and cut method to create a side dart.so i cut from the shoulder point into the bust and from the waist i cut into the bust and then i cut cut from the side point into the bust and closed the shoulder dart and the waist dart. to open a side dart.

  4. Small dscf1072

i cut the pattern out two on the main fabric. then i sew the darts at the dart point marked out from the pattern

  5. Small dscf1071

i cut out the back pattern on fold. again if you don't have a back pattern it can be created from a vest.

  6. Small dscf1069

then fold the sleeve in half right sides together and sew.

  7. Small dscf1136

sew the front and back together and connect the sleeves. you don't need to hem it or over lock seams leather dosn't fray. i made this white on first then i made it in black leather.

  8. Small dscf1063

sorry this is step four this is how it should look when you have opened the dart
