• 

  Step 1

  first choose an image on your computer

  I'm using a apple because of its simple shape

• 

  Step 2

  and open it in illustrator

• 

  Step 3

  now using the black arrow button

  -click on the black arrow in the tools bar located on the side

  -then holding the mouse draw a square around the image

  -a blue line should appear around the image

• 

  Step 4

  now go

  object>live trace>tracing options

• 

  Step 5

  in options choose colour and hit set default

• 

  Step 6

  then you will get a traced image

  on the top of the screen hit the expand button

  now you probly just want a cleaner image, without all that stuff around it

• 

  Step 7

  now hit

  shift.>command>G

  this will hightlight and unlock the image so you can take off the items you don't want

  now you are left with just the apple

• 

  Step 8

  to save.

  just hit

  file>save as>adobe illustrator file

  or

  file>save as>adobe PDF
