yay, first project in my christmas holidays!!! for christmas, i made some tote bags instead of wrapping the presents in paper. i made this cut-out embellishment on one bag and thought it would be nice to share this idea with you. maybe it´s a new way to decorate plain clothes and bags in an easy way!!!

ok, grab your outer fabric and trace around each part of your template (or do it free hand) with some chalk.
flip around the fabric and place another piece of fabric on the wrong side which is big enough to cover the whole image.
pin the two fabrics, so nothing can get out of place. now sew the along the marks you made with chalk. if you can´t sew it with one seam, leave the ends hanging down and start a new seam. push the loose threads through the fabric and knot them on the backside.
make a small slit or hole in each part you want to cut out. i usually use a seam ripper for the first slit and then some nail scissors to cut our the fabric. make sure you just cut the fabric on top!!
instead of sewing with a machine you can sew it by hand. i even used a buttonhole stitch for the outlines once. (you can see it in the butterfly, i laid some violet tulle underneath)
