ok so this is my first how to. I feel like such a big kid now. Well i know most people have those shirts in their closet that are just sitting there with no purpose. So here was my useless shirt. It had such a great pattern on it I could not bear to part with it, plus my mom got it for me, but I just could not get it to fit right. It had such a great pattern on it I could not bear to part with it, plus my mom got it for me, but I just could not get it to fit right. So I made a skirt out of it, and here is how. so get ready, start, good luck!
first get your shirt and all the materials ready. lay it out on a flat surface
Now get ready to cut! I had tried on the shirt to see where I wanted it to lay and marked it. You can measure it too. so once you figure out how long you want it, begin to cut. I wanted to fold my top part over so I left a extra on mine you don't have to.
once I cut it I pined it and made a seam. then i folded it over and made a band that went all the way around and also sewed that. I like how it looked inside out, but if you don't you can cut it then sew it the right way.
Last I cut slits in the fabric and ran a string, that i made from the top part of the shirt, threw the slits so I could tie the sides tighter if I liked.
now your done wear it out! I hope this was easy enough to understand and that you had fun.
