Carry four mugs with one hand!
Ed, from the sugru community wanted to fix a tea problem — specifically, how to get four cups of hot tea, (there are four of them in the studio) from the kitchen downstairs up here in a single trip! We loved his creative solution :)

Step 1
So that he could carry four mugs in one hand, Ed used hexagonal mugs that fitted together nicely.

But if you are just making individual mugs you can use any shape of jam jar!
Step 2
Gather what you need to create each mug — a jam jar, a fork and a minipack of sugru
Step 3
Cut open you minipack of sugru and squidge it between your fingers for a few seconds.

Pinch a little piece of sugru off and keep it for step 4.

Roll the larger piece into a sugru ball and place on the table.

Press the jam jar firmly onto the sugru to ensure a good bond.

TIP: use a little soapy water on the surface of the table to stop the sugru sticking to it. Check out our sugru tips video page (www.sugru.com/tips) if you need more guidance on how to use sugru
Step 4
Bend the forks to the shape you want and check that they fit flush with the side of the jam jar.
Step 5
Roll the little piece of sugru left over from step 2 into a ball.

Attach it to the bottom of your fork handle.
Step 6
Press the fork handle onto the side of the jam jar.

Press the top of the fork handle firmly into the large piece of sugru already on the jam jar.

Align the bottom of the fork handle with the little piece of sugru and press firmly onto the jam jar.

TIP: to ensure a strong bond, cover the fork prongs with the excess sugru that squidges though.

Leave to cure for 24 hours.

Repeat steps 1- 6 for each mug you want to create

TIP: after leaving to cure for 24 hours, use cold water to test the handles hold firmly when full.

Ta-dahh! You have created your very own unique jam jar mugs!
