Cut Out + Keep

How To Make A Plushie!

FINALLY!!

https://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/how-to-make-a-plushie-2 • Posted by MIHO

I finally decided to make a plushie tutorial, for all of you :D It's really easy, but it takes some time. If you work 1-2 hours a day, it should be finished in 2 days. Now, for the patterns. The patterns for the body are mostly the same for every plushie (some have bigger heads or have skinnier bodies, but that's easy to edit), but for the hair and clothes, you might encounter some problems. If you need the right patterns for your plushie, I'll be glad to help you :D M’kay. This is a how-to for the plushie only, not for the clothes. But I’ll add those later, I promise ;D I hope this will help you!

I finally decided to make a plushie tutorial, for all of you :D It's really easy, but it takes some time. If you work 1-2 hours a day, it should be finished in 2 days. Now, for the patterns. Instructions

  1. Small 14492

Take you skin coloured felt and draw a shape like this on it. Do realise the actual head will be slightly smaller than this pattern.

  2. Small 14495

    Cut out two times.

  3. Small 14496

Sew the two pieces on to each other.

  4. Small 14499

    Done.

  5. Small 14500

    Turn inside out and stuff.

  6. Small 14502

Close the gap with thread and needle. Now the basic shape of the head is finished.

  7. Small 14505

Give it a face :D This is an easy one, but I made a paint file (XD) with some other expressions, just to give you inspiration: http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/8936/facesma2.png

  8. Small 14508

Now, the body. Cut out two pieces like this. Make sure the body isn't too big compared with the head, because that would take away all the cuteness.

  9. Small 14509

Sew, but leave the "neck" part open.

  10. Small 14510

    Turn inside out and stuff.

  11. Small 14511

    Close.

  12. Small 14512

The main piece of the body is done! Now, on to the arms and legs!

  13. Small 14513

These are the patterns for the arms. You see they are basically the same as the patterns for fingerdolls. Well, they have the same shape XD So, sew them together like you do with fingerdolls, turn inside out and stuff

  14. Small 14514

Annnd these are the patterns for the legs. (they should be a tiiiny bit shorter tough. My bad >_>)

  15. Small 14515

Sew the arms to the body.

  16. Small 14516

Add tattoos or whatever you like. Mine has stiches on his arm, from a motorcycle accident. * proud *

  17. Small 14517

Sew the legs to the body. Now make sure the arms and legs are attached to the body like this: http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/5798/bodytp2.png Can you see the difference between them? It's important, because otherwise, you wouldn't be able to move the arms, or the plushie wouldn't be able to stand.

  18. Small 14518

    The body is finished!

  19. Small 14519

Now, the hair. Well, IF you do the hair, make the patterns (or ask for them :p) You should have a back, a front, and two little pieces to cover the "bald" spots.

  20. Small 14520

    Glue on to the head.

  21. Small 14521

Okay okay, I was making Taiji, so he needs a hat! You can skip this step if yours doesn't need one, but if he does, then here we go! These are the patterns.

  22. Small 14522

Sew the ends of the loooong piece together. Don't turn inside out.

  23. Small 14523

Sew the top of the hat onto it.

  24. Small 14524

    Now turn inside out.

  25. Small 14525

Sew the bottom of the hat onto it.

  26. Small 14527

Now you're done with the hat!

  27. Small 14526

Then sew the head onto the body, aaand.... Your plushie is finished! Now he still needs clothes. I will make how-to's for clothes too, don't worry.
