Do wait the 2 days before gluing the ring to the pie. If it doesn't fit the shape of the ring, use caulking as an adhesive. If you put the sprinkles in when the caulking is still somewhat wet, they should stick. If not, use an adhesive for the baked sprinkles. Waiting on the caulking takes a bit of time, but actually creating the pie takes only 30 minutes or so. :D
