Description

This tutorial is a follow-up to my Beginners Embroidery Hoop tutorial. Now that you have created the most beautiful embroidery in the world, it is time for you to learn how to finish your hoop so that when a senior curator from MoMA calls, you will be ready.

Instructions

  1. Small 8el2

Preheat your glue gun. If you do not own a glue gun, that means you have a life. Congratulations.

  2. Small rglf

Tighten the hoop as much as super-humanly possible. If you doubt your strength, use needle-nose pliers.

  3. Small ghdx

Using small scissors, trim only the batting down to the edge of the hoop, much as my daughter chews her fingernails down to the quick. (Bonus Question: What is a ‘quick?’)

  4. Small zqxu

Trim fabric, being careful to leave a margin of one - two inches.

  5. Small w690

Take the fabric edge and glue it tightly down to the undercarriage of the hoop. Ask the hoop’s father for permission to marriage.

  6. Small j0j4

Working quickly, add a line of glue from your hot glue gun on the back of the wooden hoop. Quickly place a piece of stiffened felt or ‘E-Z Felt’ (as the French call it) on the back of your hoop. Trim away the excess.

  7. Small gui5

Optional: add a Pom Pom trim for an extra nice touch.

  8. Small ub4c

    Finished! Good job, you.
