Description

Can’t get enough of those Angry Birds? Why not make one to sit on your desk/table/shelf etc. so you can see their irritated face every day.

Instructions

  1. Small 2

Choose the size of your foam ball. Cut the bottom of the foam ball using a sharp kitchen knife or stanley knife. NOTE: kids will need to ask their parents for help with this step. Don’t cut too much, just enough for the ball to stand without rolling. With a pencil, draw a half circle near the bottom (for the belly) on the foam ball. This will be your guide when sticking the feathers on.

  2. Small 3

Cut little half ovals out of the white felt, these will be the belly feathers, make sure they are all of similar size. Also make sure they are not too big or small for the size of ball you buy. Using your glue (you need a water based one as any other will melt the foam ball) Start sticking the feathers onto the belly area. Use your pencil guide to make sure you don’t overdo the white feather. Start from the bottom and then overlay the feathers as you go.

  3. Small 4

Move onto the red felt and cut same size half ovals out if it, you will be covering the rest of the ball so make sure you cut out lots! Frame the white feathers with the red and continue upwards until the entire ball is pretty much covered.

  4. Small 5

Cut a small diamond out of red felt. Cut around the edges of the diamond to give it more of a feathered look.

  5. Small 6

Cut out 2 red ‘feather’ shapes (the same as mine) and sew them together with the red thread, leaving bottom open. This shape is for the feathers on the head. Twist some thin wire/pipe cleaner to fit into the shape to help keep it upright when we attach it to the ball. Fold the diamond shape you cut earlier in half and cut a little slit in the middle. Push the feathers and wire/pipe cleaner through the cut. Push wire/pipe cleaner into top of foam ball and glue it and the diamond into place.

  6. Small 8

Cut two triangles out of yellow felt. Sew them together leaving bottom open. Take black DMC thread and separate the strands, you only need two. Thread them into the needle and sew around the joins of the beak to give a nice line. Fill with stuffing. Cut an oval and sew it to seal the opening. Glue beak onto your bird in-between red and white feather.

  7. Small 10

Cut two circles out of black felt and two slightly smaller ones out of white. I sewed mine together but you can just glue them if you like! Next cut out two tiny black dots and sew/glue them on white circles. Cut a wide V shape out of black felt (for angry angry eyebrows) and glue everything on bird above beak.

  8. Small 11

You need to cut the feathers for the tail. Using black felt copy my shape and cut it out. Sew halfway together then twist wire/pipe cleaner into same shape and push it into felt. Cut little hole at botte and push wire through and sew rest of felt up. Push and glue into back of bird. NOTE If you want to hang it you can attach fishing line/string to the top!

  9. Small 12

You’re done! Fly my pretties, FLY!
