This is a wonderful technique that adds a special touch to your garments. Here, I've done it on a handmade dress, but you can do it on ready-to-wear garments as well.
Print your design out onto iron-on transfer paper. Make sure you have selected "mirror image." Otherwise, your design will be backward on your garment!
Place the design where you'd like it to go on your garment, and follow the instructions for the iron-on transfer paper to press. I used a press cloth to protect my garment fabric.
Iron on fusible interfacing on the back of your garment as well. This will help keep your fabric strong as you make lots of little pokes in it with the needle. Here's what the inside looks like.
Cross stitch your design! I always like to find a relaxing spot and settle in.
