If you have no idea how to braid, you have come to the right place! I will be teaching you how to do a basic braid. After you figure it out, make sure to practice a LOT until you are very comfortable with it before you try to move on to more complex braids. I would suggest learning the French braid after you get this one down!

Gather the section of hair you want to braid. When learning to braid, I find it easiest to start with a medium sized section of hair from anywhere on the head.
Split the hair into three equal sections. It doesn't have to be perfect, but the more equal the sections, the more even your braid will look.
Now you are going to cross the left hand section over the middle one. *The left hand section now becomes the middle one.*
Now take the right hand section and cross it over the middle. In other words, you are switching the two sections, the outer one always going OVER the middle one.
Go back to the left and cross it over the middle.
Now back to the right and cross it over the middle. Continue steps 5 and 6, alternating cross the sides over the middle, until you reach the point where you want to stop.
To make the braid stay, finish off with an elastic.
