If you have no idea how to braid, you have come to the right place! I will be teaching you how to do a basic braid. After you figure it out, make sure to practice a LOT until you are very comfortable with it before you try to move on to more complex braids. I would suggest learning the French braid after you get this one down!

Instructions

  1. Small 102360 2f2014 06 05 003842 20130401 173036

Gather the section of hair you want to braid. When learning to braid, I find it easiest to start with a medium sized section of hair from anywhere on the head.

  2. Small 102360 2f2014 06 05 004014 20130401 173052

Split the hair into three equal sections. It doesn't have to be perfect, but the more equal the sections, the more even your braid will look.

  3. Small 102360 2f2014 06 05 004655 20130401 173104

Now you are going to cross the left hand section over the middle one. *The left hand section now becomes the middle one.*

  4. Small 102360 2f2014 06 05 004850 20130401 173115

Now take the right hand section and cross it over the middle. In other words, you are switching the two sections, the outer one always going OVER the middle one.

  5. Small 102360 2f2014 06 05 005043 20130401 173131

Go back to the left and cross it over the middle.

  6. Small 102360 2f2014 06 05 005136 20130401 173141

Now back to the right and cross it over the middle. Continue steps 5 and 6, alternating cross the sides over the middle, until you reach the point where you want to stop.

  7. Small 102360 2f2014 06 05 005255 20130401 173155

To make the braid stay, finish off with an elastic.
