You Will Need

Step 1Make 1 round of HDC, which will look like this

Step 2Now, to achieve the ribbed effect, you will crochet on the side bar shown in blue, not at the top of your previous stitches as you would normally do

Step 3So you will not crochet here!

Step 4wrap the yarn around your hook (as you would in a normal HDC) and insert it into the side loop as shown in the picture

Step 5from the top, it will look like this

Step 6complete the stitch by wrapping the yarn around your hook once more and pulling it through all the stitches in the hook and you're done!
