• 

  Step 1

  Begin with a Magic Cirlce. If you're not sure how to do this, check out Google or YouTube. Alternatively, you can make a ring to work into by chaining 3 and joining your last ch to your first with a slip stitch.

  Step 2

  Ch 3 (starting chain - st ch for short)

• 

  Step 3

  11 double crochet (dc) and join with a slip stich (ss) to the 3rd ch of the st ch.
  (12 sts)

  Step 4

  ch 3(st ch), dc in same space (sp) as ss, 2 dc in next 11 stitches (sts), join with ss to 3rd ch of st ch.
  (24 sts)

  Step 5

  ch 3 (st ch), dc in same sp as ss, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st*, repeat from * to * 10 times. Join with ss to 3rd ch of st ch. (36 sts)

• 

  Step 6

  ch 3 (st ch), dc in same sp as ss, dc in next 2 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts*, repeat from * to * 10 times. Join with ss to 3rd ch of st ch.
  (48 sts)

• 

  Step 7

  To make your circle bigger, each round simply add a dc in an extra stitch. so the next round 5 would be dc in next 3 sts, round 6 would be dc in next 4 sts etc. Each round's stitch counts will increase by 12 sts.

  For a seamless look as in the circle shown on the right, investigate the alternative to a st ch - the false dc and the invisible join to finish with. Google and YouTube can help.
