A quick and easy way to really improve the look of your crochet

Blocking is something a lot of folks just don't do, but it's really worth the small amount of time it takes.

It squares things up, opens patterns to be seen better and just makes everything look so much better.

There are loads of ways to do it - this is my cheating way.

You Will Need (3 things)

  • Foam mat
  • Sewing Pins
  • Iron

Steps (5 steps, 5 minutes)

  1. 1

Get your hands on a foam mat of some description - these were old kids mats that I've marked out a 6", 8" & 12" square on.

  2. 2

Start by pinning your square by the corners only

  3. 3

Then place lots of pins along the sides - angled as pictured.

  4. 4

Shoot the crochet with steam from your iron, then hover the hot iron over the work for a short time. Take care not to touch the pin head or your yarn.

  5. 5

Remove the pins and voila! Neat, straight crochet.
