Cut out two pieces from fabric A. These are 12cm wide, 19cm in length. The point is drawn from 13cm on the sides to a midway point marked on the top of the piece.
Cut out 3 pieces from fabric B, all 12 cm square.
Cut out an 8 cm square piece of bondaweb and iron it to the wrong side of one of the fabric B squares. Draw out the currency symbol for wherever you are going on holiday onto the bondaweb square. REMEMBER TO DRAW IT IN REVERSE! We are going to Ireland so we picked the Euro symbol. Cut out the symbol.
Iron your currency symbol (right side up, sticky side down) to one of the pieces of fabric A. This piece will be the outer piece that forms the back of the purse. The other piece will be the inner piece.
Sew together the remaining two squares of fabric B. Sew them along one side, 1 cm from the edge, right sides together. Iron seam open.
Flip the pieces of fabric B open and pin wrong sides together. Top stitch along the seam.
On the back of the inner piece of fabric A mark a line from edge to edge about 3 cm down from the point. This will give you start and finish points for sewing the purse together and mean that you finish evenly on both sides. (Apologies for different fabric, was making 3 purses at once and photographed a bit out of order!)
Pin together the pieces as follows: - Outer piece of fabric A RIGHT SIDE UP - Stitched together squares of fabric B RIGHT SIDES OUT - Inner piece of fabric A WRONG SIDE UP Stitch together 0.5cm from the edge. Start to stitch at the line that has been drawn 3 cm from the edge. Go all the way around and finish back at the line on the other side. Back stitch at beginning, end and as you start to sew over fabric B.
Pull material through the gap. It's quite a small gap so take your time. Pin together the gap by tucking the point of the material inwards. Stitch the gap closed close to the edge.
Iron the purse, including ironing the flap closed. Finally, place a popper (or you could use sew in magnetic fasteners or you could button hole/button). Ta dah!
