My toddler son, Jude, and his little gal pal Rose love making homemade playdough. They throw it at each other and roll it into worms. With a few adjustments to our usual recipe, I made a dough for making ornaments that should last For.Eh.Vuh. Their tiny handprints are now preserved, and this will make a fantastic gift for Rose's mommakins. I can't wait to see how surprised she is that we did this during a playdate!

Sift together salt and flour. Slowly pour in water a bit at a time while mixing with a wooden spoon. Continue adding water and mixing until your dough is the consistency of playdough.
Roll dough on a lightly floured surface until it is 1/4 inch thick.
You'll need to help babykins out, so spread her little fingers a bit and press down into the dough to make a firm print. Give the little crafter a cracker and send her on her way.
Cut a circle around the print and lay it on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. If you wish to stamp letters around the print using rubber stamps, now is the time:) Also,make a small hole at the top with a drinking straw or a chop stick!
Bake for 2 hours at 250 degrees.
Cool completely! If you stamped the names/dates onto the circle, fill them in with a bit of black paint or ink.
Mix your paint with a bit of water if you wish. I used about half paint and half water so it would look like a wash of color, rather than a solid print. It's all up to you! Paint the center of the handprint.
Once the paint is completely dry, brush a layer of Sparkle Mod Podge over the whole thing. Don't be stingy! Glitter rules!
Once your Mod Podge is dry, string a ribbon or twine through the hole and you are ready to gift this little baby!
