Description

Wrapping threads around each other is all you have to do to make this colourful strap. It looks best if you make it long enough to go around your wrist a couple of times. Make a matching one in your hair for a really cool look!

Instructions

  1. Small k glaw round wrap step1 copy

Cut the embroidery threads so that each one is 75 cm long. Then, fold them in half to make 14 strands altogether. tip You can choose to have a single round wrap for your watch strap but it works even better when you double-loop it.

  2. Small k glaw round wrap step2 copy

Hold the strands together to make a small loop where the threads are folded in half. Put this loop around your friend’s little finger and tie a double knot. Or use a pencil if your friend is busy!

  3. Small k glaw round wrap step3 copy

Choose one of the seven colours that you would like at the top of your bracelet (we’ve chosen orange) and another colour that you think would look nice over the top to make a criss-cross pattern (we’ve chosen black). Leaving the two black threads hanging loose, start wrapping one of the orange threads around the other 11 strands, under and over, keeping the wraps close together.

  4. Small k glaw round wrap step4 copy

When you’ve wrapped about 2.5 cm in length, tie a knot so it doesn’t unravel.

  5. Small k glaw round wrap step5 copy

Next, using the two threads you chose for the criss-cross pattern (black in this case), wrap each thread across the orange so they cross in the middle.

  6. Small k glaw round wrap step6 copy

When you have made three or four crosses, tie the two black threads together in a small knot. Now you know how to do it!

  7. Small k glaw round wrap step7 copy

From here it’s up to you! You can alternate the colours as you like, and make as many criss-cross patterns as you want, but remember to tie a small knot after each colour section.

  8. Small k glaw round wrap step8 copy

When the length of the braid reaches about 30 cm (depending on your wrist size, but remember it needs to wrap around twice) stop wrapping! Tie a double knot and tighten to secure it.

  9. Small k glaw round wrap step9 copy

Attach a split ring on to each clasp at the side of the watch face and then thread the round wrap through the rings until the watch face is in the middle. To fasten, check that the knot is big enough so that it won’t slip through the loop. Once you are happy it is secure, cut the ends of the embroidery thread just after the knot. Now you have a gorgeous double-band round wrap bracelet!
