Use oven bake clay and gold leaf paint to create a luxe looking tray for less.
Grab a piece of oven bake clay about the size of a baseball and roll it flat with your clay roller. The final piece should be 1/4 inch thick and should be large enough to cover the entire mirror plus an inch around each edge.
Lay the mirror down on the clay and flip it over on your hand with the mirror side down. I think of it as if you are holding a fancy tray of champagne cocktails on your fingertips...because...well, champagne is lovely.
With your free hand, press the clay down so that it molds around the mirror. Form the corners and bottom edge of the tray by pressing it to the mirror.
With your scissors, trim the edge of the clay so that you have an even edge. You will want it to be about 1/2 to 3/4 inch from the bottom of the tray.
Preheat your oven per the instructions on the clay.
Set your dish in the oven on top of the oven safe coffee mug. You want the mirror side to be down, resting on the mug, so that the sides hang down.
Bake your tray until the clay is hardened and let cool.
Remove the mirror from the bottom of the tray.
Tape a line down the center of the tray with washi tape and paint one side with gold leaf paint.
Let the paint dry then add a second coat.
Remove the tape and enjoy your new tray!
