  • How to make a fabric hair clip. Heart Hairpiece / Brooch - Step 1
    Step 1

Ok first start by making your templates, there's only 3 needed so it's nice and simple... I tried to get a good enough picture of my templates that you could just print off & use.

Next draw around your templates onto felt & cut them out. Black for the backing, red for the heart & white for the scroll.

    Step 3

Sew a smaller piece of felt on to the back of the black piece. Only sew along the top and bottom of it though as this will be what you slip your hair grip or safety pin through.

So now you need to decide what you want your heart to say, whether it's your bf/gf's name, your favourite band or cookies. lol
[Scarlet Grey is a really great band, you should check them out on myspace!].

Once you've decided on what it's gonna say stitch it on to the scroll with black thread.

Once you've finished stitching on to the scroll, attach it to the red heart.

    You're almost there! :)

Once that's done stitch the backing to the red heart & scroll. You could add a little stuffing if you like, I chose to pass on that this time.

    Step 7

Slip your hair grip or safety pin through the little piece at the back & you're ready to go.
