My boyfriend asked me to make him a Gryffindor scarf so this is the result! I started it in the summer...and procrastinated alot ^^; but I finally finished about a week ago yay! You'd probably need a lot of time to make this, but its pretty simple. I recommend wearing this with a black pea coat, or anything that resembles a black robe...hahaha [x Note: This is my first crochet pattern, so I apologize if things are sort of unclear, just ask me if you need any help with the directions

Instructions

  1. Use red yarn first for a more authentic look. Ch 32, when you start, leave a tail as long as you want the tassels to be

  2. (this part is kinda hard for me to explain...but I hope you'll understand ._. if you need a picture I'll try to take one) ROW 1: sc 1 in 2nd ch then ch1, sk ch and sc in next ch repeat until you reach the end, then ch 1 and turn basically you're creating holes so that you can fit the tassels in

  3. Small beach009

each stripe should have 14 rows (31 sc)so for the first stripe, sc 13 rows, then change to gold (see below please!) and sc 14, then change to red and sc 14 and so on until the scarf is as long as you want, but for the last row, sc 13 rows (see even belower!). I crocheted 19 stripes total. Try to end the scarf with red also so it looks neater, but you dont have to

  4. Small hangout001

HOW TO CHANGE THE COLORS: when you reach the end of your 14 rows, ch 1 with opposite color instead of the usual color.

  5. Small hangout002

then cut the yarn, making sure to leave a tail 2 inches or longer

  6. Small hangout003

i like to sc 2 rows first before knotting the two tails. knot it like so

  7. Small hangout004

then knot it the opposite way...if that makes sense. when you do this, the tails will correspond with their stripe color which makes weaving them into the scarf alot neater.

  8. THE LAST ROW: basically you're doing what you did in the first row. after you ch1 and turned, sc in 1st sc, then ch1, sk sc and sc in next sc repeat until the end, then tie it off and leave a tail as long as you want the tassels to be

  9. HOW TO MAKE THE TASSELS: cut pretty long a string of yarn, about 3 yards. doesnt need to be exact, but just make sure all the strings are the same length. then fold the string in half about three times.

  10. Small hangout005

poke it halfway through a hole at the end of the scarf

  11. Small hangout006

take the end of the tassel and put it through the hole you just made

  12. Small hangout007

    then pull the tassel through!

  13. Small hangout008

I made all the yellow tassels first, skipping a hole between each because those are where the red tassels belong

  14. you can trim the tassels to make it neater if youd like

  15. Small hangout010

and you're done! sorry for the dirty mirror D:
