Make your very own goth or rivethead goggles.
I made a pair of goggles for my best friend for his 23rd birthday and I figured I should finally post a tutorial since I've already posted two projects as creations.

This project can get expensive depending on the size and quantity of spikes you use. I got mine from studsandspikes. The goggles are Hobart welding goggles from Amazon.

You will need a few basic tools, and know how to use them with caution.

If you don't want to use spikes, you can use hardware screws or even nails, though I would advise you to use extreme caution when handling anything sharp.

    Step 1

Start off by measuring how far apart you want your spikes to be on the goggles. Measure them with a tape measure, ruler, or piece of scrap paper. Mark where the center of each spike is.

    Step 2

Hold your marked measuring utensil up to the side of the goggle. Pick a place to measure from and mark where your spikes will go.

Do this for each side of the eye cup that you want to put spikes into.
For my usual pairs, I put two spikes on the top and two spikes on the bottom of both the right and left eye cups.

    Step 3

Disassemble your goggles, if possible, by removing the lenses, lens caps, and the bridge section that connects the cups.

Using scissors or a small drill, drill holes through the eye cups where you made your markings from step 2.

Always make sure your holes match up on each cup to get a good, even look.

I drill with scissors to get the hole to be just the right size for my screws.

    Step 5

Insert the screws of the spikes up through the inside of the eye cups. Use a screw driver to get them in securely.

Once all of your screws are in place, you can twist the body of the spike on top.

    Step 6

Make sure your spikes are even, then reassemble the goggles.
My goggles came with plastic lens protectors which I kept on this pair so the lenses would be safe in shipping. Adjust the bridge and elastic straps to appropriate and comfortable lengths.

Once the spikes are even, try them on!
If your spikes aren't quite even, the screws can sometimes be put in at a new angle to even out the spacing.
