    Step 1

    Thread a beading needle with 250cm of thread. Add a stopper bead by threading a gold rocaille onto your beading thread. Position it about 15cm from the end of the thread, then loop the thread back though the bead and pull tight. Pick up 31 more gold rocailles. Tie the two ends together to form a ring including the stopper bead to create row 1 of the net tube.

    Pick up 3 gold beads and pass your needle through the fourth bead on row 1. Pick up 1 gold, 1 clear and 1 gold, and thread through the next fourth bead along (8th bead from start). Repeat all the way around,
    alternating between the two bead sequences: GGG and GCG.

    When row 2 is complete go through the first two beads of this row so that your needle is coming out of the middle bead of the first set of 3.

    Continue making the remaining rows in the following sequences:
    Row 3: GCC CCG
    Row 4: CCC GCG
    Row 5: GCC CCG
    Row 6: CCC GCG

    Row 10: CCC GCG
    Row 11: GCC CCG
    Row 12: CCC GCG
    Row 13: GCC CCG

    When the final row is complete, thread back through the netting until you come out at your first thread end. Tie the 2 ends together. Weave through several beads and trim. Repeat with the remaining thread end.

    Following steps 1 to 4 make 2 more tubes.

    To make one half of the beaded fastener, add 100cm of thread to your needle and attach to one of the tubes, knotting between beads to secure.
    Come out of a central rocaille on one of the three bead sequences on the last row.

    Pick up 10 gold rocailles, 1 large pearl, 20 gold rocailles, 1 smaller pearl and 1 more gold rocaille. Excluding the last rocaille added, thread back through all the beads up to and including the large pearl.

    Pick up 10 more gold rocailles and weave back into the netted tube on the opposite side to where you began your fastener. Weave back through, knotting between beads to secure and trim the thread.

    For the other fastener end, attach 100cm of thread and come out in the centre of three beads as before. Pick up eleven gold rocailles. Then pick up as many beads as you need to loop round your large pearl. Weave back down through the eleventh rocaille you picked up.

    Pick up ten more gold rocailles and weave back into the lace tube on the opposite side to where you began your fastening loop. Weave back through the netting, knotting between beads to secure. Trim off any excess thread.

    To create the joining strands, prepare your needle with 300cm of thread and attach it to one of the fastener tubes, knotting between beads as before so that the thread comes out at the central bead of a three-bead sequence.

    Thread the beads according to the strand sequence given.

    20G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 20G, 1 large pearl, 20G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 2G, 2C, 20G.

    Then attach to a centre bead of three on the third net tube
    (without the fastening). Weave through to the central bead in the next bead sequence and repeat the strand sequence, this time passing back through the large pearl in the centre, rather than adding a new one.

    On the tube with the fastener, pass your needle through the central rocaille of a bead sequence next to where you began your strands. Keep repeating this process until you have eight strands in each section.

    Complete the necklace by repeating on the other side to attach the remaining tube with fastening loop.
