Description

These cookies are a family recipe from my grandmother. She made them for Christmas for years and they are a family favorite. These are soft and cake-like cookies. Top them with any icing and they are a perfect treat all year round!

Instructions

  1. Cream together butter and sugar.

  2. Beat in egg, molasses and vinegar.

  3. Blend in sifted dry ingredients.

  4. Chill 2-3 hours (this is important– the dough is very easy to roll after chilling)

  5. Roll 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch thick on a floured counter or board and cut into shapes.

  6. Place on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes. Check often- take out when cookies have risen and are easily removed from sheet.

  7. Frost as desired. I used Royal Icing. If you want instructions and techniques for Royal Icing, visit my website: www.easybaked.net.
