Materials Needed: -zip ties (clear or white) -white rope made of synthetic material (quantity depends on how big you make it) -scissors -tent stakes (mine are yellow because they were the cheapest, but they make metal and glow in the dark as well)
Make sure you have plenty of room to work in! - Lay out one continuous piece of rope in a spiral on the ground. Make it as big as you'd like your web to be.
-Lay out pieces of rope in an asterisk on top of your spiral. You must do at least 3 pieces, otherwise it turns out all wonky. -Make all the pieces longer than you think you may need. Putting the web up may be tricky and it's better to trim off in the end than to have to add and have it look bad.
-At every instance where two pieces of rope cross, take a zip tie and attach the two. -Trim the excess ends very closes to the female piece.
HANGING THE WEB UP -Choose one long piece as your top anchor. -You can hang it over a tree or the eaves of a house or anything tall. -Be careful! You can use a ladder or a tall person to help. -Other pieces can all be anchored to the ground or other nearby trees (as shown.) -Stretch all pieces as tightly as possible, to give a new look. -Leave a bit of give to have a morning, just after the rains look.
TIPS: -When anchoring to a tall tree, use your longest piece of rope, or even add an additional piece. Tie to under the lip of a 3/4 full water bottle and toss that over the desired branch. This proved to be the easiest way on a hill with uneven ground that the ladder didn't want to stand up on! -When anchoring to the ground, using stakes, stretch the piece to the desired location, add 2 inches and make a loop/knot in the rope there. Only then should you try to stake it.
