Gecko Softie From Fat Quarters

To make this little guy, I searched google images for a a vector gecko. Once I found a gecko silhouette, I enlarged it on my screen and traced it to freezer paper. (You can use any paper, I only used freezer paper because it was the size I wanted. For a smaller gecko, trace it onto regular printer paper.)

Then I cut one gecko out of an orange polka dot fat quarter, and another out of orange stripes.

I sewed them together, right sides facing, then turned it right side out. I sewed a line across each foot, at the "wrist", so I wouldn't have to deal with stuffing the feet.

I decided to fill him with beans, but you could use fiberfill for a softer huggable friend.

After I sewed up the hole where I filled him (in his side) I sewed on two shank buttons for eyes. I used embroidery thread and sewed them on far tighter than needed, because he is a gift for a three year old and I didn't want the eyes to get pulled off.

You could attach suction cups to him to make him stick to a window, or lengthen his front legs and attach velcro to make him a huggie.

The hardest part of the gecko is turning the tail - it's easiest to use a chopstick to help it turn.
