Gas Mask Lamp

Through the mouth of an enlightened one

My friend Joe gave me this mask which I held the entire time I was at his his house, I wouldn't let the thing go, I was so enthralled with it lol. It's been hanging on my wall for the better part of a year now and I've always had aspirations for turning it into something great. My original plans were to make it into a stand up lamp but for budgetary reasons I could not get a hand on some gas conduit. So I thought hmm, perhaps a wall mounted lamp?? I unscrewed the breathing apparatus and removed the seal inside that allows you to expel your spent breath. I was given a cord with a light at the end, the kind that you put under a cabinet or inside the cabinet. I fed the wires through the mouth hole to see if this light and lens would fit in, alas it did not. I took out my dremel stylus tool and put a bit in it and started grinding out the plastic. NOTE: I removed the wires before this. I removed the lights outermost casing and carefully trimmed an outer flange of metal off of the light. I fed the wire back through the mouth hole/ breathing majiggy and replaced the plastic cover, it doesn't thread down all the way but that doesn't bother me too much. Now is the time for CAPS rage REMEMBER THAT ANY HOMEMADE LAMPS OR ELECTRICAL DEVICES MAY MALFUNCTION AND CAUSE ELECTRICAL SHOCK OR RISK OF FIRE DAMAGE.
