I love collaging and drawing, and constantly send cards abroad or to friends in the US; yet as a college student, money is merely a lovely-sounding but unattainable thing. This project, therefore, was the most logical solution. If you are in the Portland area, the Mercury has great advertisements and images that you can cut out and use in collages. Otherwise, any magazine or other newspaper will work just as well. Start out by folding a plain white sheet of paper in the form of a greeting card (fold in half twice). Next, glue a cut-out image onto the front. I would recommend as many as 3 and as few as one. With a felt pen (Stabilos are always good), make an outline around the image and draw crazy designs, triangles, fire, squiggles, or whatever you want. Now color in those shapes and designs with your pencils, and if the image is black and white, color it in too. Try to take up the whole space. Now you have a lovely card to send to a friend or lover.
