So i started with a plain ol wood cane that i picked up at a thrift store. I didnt think of taking pictures of the process until after i put on a skull top to ignore the obviouse skull lmao! Anyway, choose a cain that the top can be screwed off, it will make your life sooo much easier becasue with the top off there will be a nice screw base or wood dowl inside. Pop a hole in bottom of a cheap plastic skull (i picked up mine for .99 at a Target store) and put Gorilla glue or some other nice glue you dig all around the post and a little around the hole in the skull base.
oooh how cool does that look all glued on there, it already looks better than it did before, arent you glad you stopped by? Anyway, now that the glue is drying, you can start to put a base paint on your skull, if you want you can leave it as is, but since i'm makeing a cane for an evil sideshow barker i wanted it to look "clowny" so i base painted with a ceramic paint (another .99 Target buy for a large bottle) You can either paint the whole thing by hand or use spray paint. I did it by hand cuz i couldnt find my spray paint... dang it i can never find anything in this room.....
So cute isnt he? wow, i think its time to clean my room too, look at all that junk in the background, i promis i'll clean before i post another.. or at least take pics in a cleaner part of the room. So yeah, i've found that just a plain ol craft brush (est. .25 at ye' olde craft store) works just as good as anything for painting stuff like that. Don't bust out the fancy brushes. I don't sujest spraypaint on the skull though, it would fill in the little creveses n' stuff that will be useful later
With the hard (a.k.a. boring) part is done by preping the cane and gluing and all that stuff, now its time to DECORATE! I used a small craft brush to make black/red/black bands up the cane, and tied random red ropes around the top under the skull for some cascading ropey goodness. Then of corse, painted the skull with clown looking makeup desgins and drybrushed black paint over the skulls creveses to make it look more realistic.. well.. as realistic as a plastic skull can be.
