Frying Pan Pizza

DIY pizza for people without ovens:]

Just another way to make pizza! The recipe makes two personal pan pizzas, so I made mine in a small frying pan that is I think 10 inches? So on step 4 I do mention to half the dough, this is if you are making small pizzas, which I find easier. If you're not, then make the dough large/small enough to fit the pan you're using! It definetly isn't quicker, but maybe more fun. Also more convenient if you don't have an oven but instead have only a stove? Good Luck!

Instructions

  1. Small 2011 07 08 15 20 40 884 1310701321

Combine all your ingredients into a big bowl and mix together with a fork until it forms a ball and everything is mixed in.

Spread some flour onto a flat surface for kneading. I recommend wiping some water on the counter and then putting plastic wrap on top (water makes it stick). This way, when you knead on top of the plastic it is easier to clean up!

  3. Small 2011 07 08 15 22 13 649 1310701944

Knead the dough for a few minutes.

  4. Small 2011 07 08 15 24 37 732 1310702192

Divide the dough in half and roll your dough out flat with a rolling pin.

Then, roll the dough out so that it is a little larger in circumference than the frying pan that you are using. Then, generously spray the pan with nonstick cooking spray!

Lay the dough over the pan and press it in. Make sure the dough isn't too thick so that it will cook all the way through to the toppings and won't take forever. Also, the dough doesn't get bigger when cooking, but I cut the edges down a bit so the lid would fit on better.

I made a barbeque chicken pizza this time. The picture is before it was cooked!! Assemble the pizza and cook over medium-low heat for about a half hour. If the pizza dough is thicker or if there are a lot of ingredients on top it may take longer! You must have patients when cooking since it does kind of take a long time. I cooked mine for a half hour and when it was done the bottom was golden brown and the crust held up the shape of the pan when it stood alone!
