Hello fellow Artists, I ran into these pair of pants at the thrift store and absolutely loved the fabric but hated the pants. I thought "this would make a cute top" so I drug them home and washed them. Upon further inspection, I discovered that the pants would be easier to repurpose than I thought at first. This was a win-win situation. I flipped the pants upside down and formed the neck, shoulders and arms from the pant leg. The pockets from the original pants work perfectly for my new shirt. How cute is that!?! Enjoy!!!

You cannot tell but the fabric is a lovely heavy rayon. Suitable for making a high-end luxurious top. You will want a pair of loose fitting, stretchy pants with an elastic waistband.
I had other plans for making a top but they were scrapped when I saw how the pants looked when I flung the legs over my shoulders.
Measure your pants against your torso to ensure you get the proper fit lengthwise.
Cut. I cut one leg, folded the pants in half and then cut the other leg so both sides would match.
Open seams at legs and crotch. (Yes, I carefully removed each thread because I needed that little bit of fabric for a hem. In this picture I began to serge the edges because they were unraveling).
Here is the garment with all the edges serged except the sides of the legs that I opened for the armholes. I left them undone because I was not sure I had the proper fit.
I tried it on for size and I like!
Sorry for the blur. Ironed down the edges and stitch the neckline and armholes.
bip,
bop
BAM!
My new luxurious top! Believe me, it feels oh so good. I cannot wait to sport it. It is versitile, I can either dress it up or down. Thanks!
