Description

Are your kids always pestering you to make stuff with them? Not being a parent, I don't have that problem, but I do often have to entertain a cat or two. Here's a project using a too-big T-shirt that even a beginner sewer can do - help from kids and animals optional.

Instructions

  1. Fold T-shirt in half so that side seams meet, creating a center front and center back fold. Pin along center back about 5 cm from edge. Try T-shirt on to check that it fits OK and re-pin if necessary.

  2. Small t1

Sew along where you have pinned, ie about 5cm from edge, creating a center back seam. (Cat will be interested in helping, but it's best not to let them near the sewing machine)

  3. Small t7

You can either trim off the fabric along the seam line or do as I have here - create a fringe by snipping into the seam allowance at regular intervals. That's the bit that the kids (or cat?) can help you with because as long as they don't cut through the seam, the project will turn out fine.

  4. Small t10

Finished - a slightly more fitted T-shirt with back detail as a bonus!
